A Romcom
Today I have some very exciting news! I've started writing a new book! And today I am so happy to share this book in progress, with you!
It happens to be my very first Romance novel. As I have tried my hand at Fantasy, Historical Fiction, and Mystery, and I was ready to try something new.
Before I knew it, one idea led to another, and I was writing!
As we all know, (in the readers and writer's world that is,) that a WIP aka "Work In Progress" can stay the same or even change into something more as the story progresses. This can be the plot, characters, and everything in between.
However, for the most part I stay pretty close to the story line and such.
I have said it before, make life your own Romcom. So that is precisely what I did!
I broke out of my comfort zone and began. I asked myself, "If I were in a romcom, what would it be like?" To make it feel real as possible in order to write something I haven't before.
Another thing, is that I have read that other authors have said this piece of advice, "Write what you know." And usually, I do the complete opposite. But in this book, I decided to add in extra things that I think are really close to that advice.
After all, I have a confession... I've never been in love. So, this should be interesting!
Oh, don't get me wrong, I've been in relationships, but I've never had that specific moment where fireworks lit up like the fourth of July, kind of thing.
Alright, who's ready to hear more about the written piece?
The Novel
The title that I have landed on at the moment is "A Mystical Romance."
I'm not sure if I'll be changing it. If I do, this will be on account of coming up with a name that better suits it. And this goes for any changes. I like to keep lots of space for creative writing as much as possible while I work.
So far, we see our main character, Amber, a world-renowned author, who has just gotten a deal to make one of her books into a major motion picture!
She lives in Mystic Connecticut with her mom, but when filming takes place in New York, she finds herself there for a little while. There, she runs into her perfect match, Miles. Only she doesn't know it yet. in fact, when they cross paths Amber doesn't want anything to do with him. After all, he did almost run her over. On accident of course.
Although, it's not until later she finds out that he is the actor that is playing one of the lead roles in her book to movie adaptation.
Miles falls for her first, and they have this undeniable chemistry. Even if Amber doesn't want to admit it. Or his charms.
They are pretty close to opposites. But not with everything...
With them both being stubborn, and having this strange flirting, banter relationship at first, it starts to turn into something more. A summer romance. Will confessing their love be the best thing to do? Or will it all go up in flames?
Will Miles and Amber make it together in the end? We'll just have to wait and see!
I wouldn't say that it's an "enemies to lovers" trope but it's more "annoyance to lovers" trope.
With Amber's first words to Miles being, "Pansy Ass!" a new nickname.
But his for her is a little sweeter, "Angel."
She's more of the realistic type, who leans into the academic side of things, has a love for all things art and finds Miles smile intoxicating.
He's charming, always up for an adventure, and talented in anything he does, not to mention, making Amber laugh is the highlight of his day.

When it comes close to relationships in other films, if you enjoyed couples such as Kat and Patrick, in "10 Things I Hate About You," or even "Letters To Juliet," then you'll love this dynamite duo!
I have started a Spotify playlist "A Mystical Romance Romcom" click here, if you would like to have a listen to what sorts of songs that give the right mood for the story.
Wanting a visual aesthetic? I got you covered, babe!
I am currently writing this story, and it will be ready for the world in a couple months.
If there are any new changes, I will be sure to update this article to keep everyone updated!
(So, be sure to return here every once in a while, to see any new changes.)
That's all I got for you, loves, so far! I'll even have a podcast episode on Write Your Life with Astria Mikaelson, if you would like to hear more!
I hope you all have a wonderful day, and until next time! Xx. -A
Currently: Having pizza and coffee in my Thor Marvel Pj's and staying in on this hazy night, on the account of the smoke in the air these days. I'm hoping everyone is staying safe and my prayers go out to Canada with the current fires.
More of the story will be written this evening, with the help of writer's block nowhere in sight! I'm hopeful this Augst or September it will be ready.
Letters to Juliette was such a great movie. And this novel sounds really quirky and interesting.
