Devil In Prada Mindset

Movie Motivation

If you have an idea of where I might have gotten the idea behind this week's post, you may be my new best friend! Yes, the "Devil in Prada Mindset," is from "The Devil Wears Prada" movie. Which so happens to be one of my favorite movies. (And I dare to say, any fashion lovers beloved movie.)

It has both fashion and strong female charters. What's not to love?

Alright, let's get straight to the point. What I call the Devil in Prada Mindset, or D.I.P.M for short, is how a woman has a few certain mindsets of characteristics of following her strong intuition, being herself, and look good doing it. As well as taking on the so called, "masculine" side of her AND "feminine" side and keeping them at a good balance.

For some women one usually dominates the other.

For instance, you may be more in touch with your feminine side. Meaning, you may have traits and behaviors such as nurturing, empathy, and sensitivity.

Or you may be more in touch with your masculine side. Meaning, you may have traits and behaviors such as assertiveness, competitiveness, and independence.

Now, both sides are good in my opinion. And fit to a person accordingly.

In fact, I believe there are many things that can cause what type you are more of. It could be because of how you were raised, how you perceive the world around you, and even how you perceive yourself and your day-to-day lifestyle.

There are ways to tap into the other, if this is what you shall wish.

For me, I'm more feminine, but have been increasing masculine attributes lately.

I also want to add, both are beneficial and there is no wrong choice.

The 5 Things To Remember

Next, to be this "type" of woman, like seen in this beloved movie, there are a few things that you can't help but notice.

1. You can be a strong woman and go for those big dreams/goals.

2. Having a sense of style is a MUST.

3. It's ok to grow and change up your life.

4. Find yourself but don't lose yourself.

5. You don't have to be a total D*vil to people to be assertive and get the job done.

Not Just Men

There is a line in the 2006 film, when the Character (Andrea) who is played by Anne Hathaway, talks about her boss (Miranda) played by Meryl Streep.

She goes on to say, "Ok, she's tough. But if Miranda were a man, no one wouldn't notice anything about her. Except for how great she is at her job."

And to be honest I think it's my favorite quote from the entire movie. (And there are A LOT of good ones, mind you.)

I especially like it because it openly shows that, yes, men are allowed to be seen as strong minded, ambitious, have the big company roles, and it's perfectly acceptable to have authority and everything that comes with it.

But guess what, babe. As soon as we are presented with a woman with all of these traits and qualities to her name, it becomes a problem.

And thank goodness that we now all live in the 21st century and this is becoming more and more of an idea of the past.

Women are strong and damn well deserve the things we work hard to accomplish.

We shouldn't have to apologize for anything of the sort.

(Be as it may, I certainly don't think anyone should treat others how Miranda treats the people around her. There needs to be more kindness in this world.

And I'll let you in on a little secret, you don't have to choose one or the other when it comes to being kind and being the "boss." You just have to learn where to place more firmness within the said subject.

A recap

To have a "Devil in Prada Mindset" is to really embody the look of a classy and elegant fashion of your choosing. Be confidant and hold your head up high.

Have a good work ethic. Show that you can be kind to people and that they can rely on you. Follow the 5 rule tips above and be a badass!

It's really that simple. Anyone can do it. Not to mention, visit Paris whenever you can.

Until next time Xx. -A

Currently: I just watched this movie recently and knew this would be the perfect post this week! I hope you have enjoyed it. And who knows I might create more close posts to other such movies in the future. I do have a few in mind... We will just have to wait and see.

For the ambience, I have a lovely night in Paris jazz video playing, it's absolutely perfect for the evening and while writing.

Have a beautiful day, loves!

Oh, and don't forget, "Fashion is not about utility. an accessory is merely a piece of iconography used to express individual identity." "Oh, and it's pretty!"

One of my favourite sequences in the film is when Anne’s character is basically walking on the city streets and you see a variety of chic fashion she is rocking to Madonna’s Vogue playing it’s just so good. And it is one of my favourite films as well. I loved your post about this it was so fun and insightful.
