Hello, lovely people! Today I wanted to write something that was inspired by nothing but sweet and glorious Summer. (Although, I am an Autumn gal at heart. I simply adore all the seasons!)
But, how does one have such a spectacular hot season?
Well, I am SUPER glad you asked!
And even if it's you're least fav season out of the four, then I will hopefully help you have a present out at best.
So, without further Adu, here are my top 5 ways YOU can do or experience this Summer!
Plus, a few extra "Un conventual" ideas of fun, that I certainly find fun and I hope you do to.
Nothing Beats Summer 2024 With Top 5 things
#1 Bike Jousting with Water Balloon Target
Have you ever heard of such a thing? Great! Me neither!
I've actually made this fun little game up... Far as I know, that is.
What you need: Long sticks for jousting rod, A package of colorful water balloons (I prefer the eco-friendly kind) to pin up to a board, in the shape of your target.
Lable with a sharpie marker a points system on each part of the ballon sections. The one with who hits the highest point marked balloon is the winner.
Optional: Bike pads and helmet, for your "armor" and if you want to be a little extra, then I suggest putting obstacles the "warrior" has to go through in order to be the undefeated champion.
How to Play:
Before getting on the bike, have them go through a series of obstacles, like going under a limbo, crawling through a tunnel, and a way to add to their point system from where they are standing, which is far away, they can have a chance to throw a stone at the target While others are throwing small squish balls at them.
WHILE LOTS of bubbles are swirling the air. (Ball throwing stops once the person is on the bike.)
Then, you have to go through Sprinklers and the ride through a streamer hanging "wall" (which is a bunch of colorful soft streamers hanging up to create the look of a thick wall.
Then you come to a clear space a few feet before getting to the target!
Add up the points if they hit and broke a balloon on part of the target with their stone.
And count if they hit a part of the target with their stick, "Jousting Pole" and whoever has the highest count is the winner!
(If there is a tie, then the two winners must go through the course again to win.
You can label balloons by points as: 5 Points, 30 Points, 50 Points 100 Points. Ect.
I like to have a prize for the winner, and other prizes for the others!
Have fun but please play safely! (Play at your own risk. It should be fun, but sometimes like in all games, accidents happen. So please keep this in mind.
You can even eliminate a part to make it safer for kids if you like!
#2 Befriend A Hummingbird
This is one of my absolute favorite "games" to do during the summer!
It's so simple and easy, just about anyone can do it.
And is also 100% kiddo friendly. (If you can get them to sit still for more than a few minutes, lol.)
What you need: Hummingbird feeders, Hummingbird food, can be the store bought made just for them or you can make your own! For the food, just add 1 cup sugar to 4 cups of room temp water and not too hot or cold because it can hurt or stun them, and we don't want that. ALSO, ONLY use white sugar!
DO NOT use brown sugar, honey, fake sweeteners, corn syrup, regular syrup, unprocessed sugars, powdered sugars, confectioners and also NEVER add red dye!
Because these things can either hurt, kill, get their tongue in their mouths (and their tongues wrap around their sculls) and suffocate, or shorten their life span.
And we always want to help keep these precious babies safe!
Next, you will need blankets or chairs to sit in your yard and dress up in fun fashions!
The idea is to get the hummingbirds to come to you. (Wear reds, greens, or yellow type of things for example.)
You can get the small hummingbird feeders to hold or secure one on a hat.
Hold very still and keep quiet.
The first person to get a hummingbird to come to them and drink from their feeder wins!! Yay!
Not only have you got a hummingbird's friendship, but you also get the money that everyone puts in the pot. Ex: Everyone put five or ten bucks, and whoever wins gets the loot.
PLEASE NOTE: You ALWAYS want to be kind and carful around hummingbirds.
Only speak softly, and never hurt them.
I remember when I was little, I would go into our garden and a couple hummingbirds started flying around me and playing with my red hair. My mom said they thought I was a flower!
We called them flit and fefe. They both came around and even brought their babies to meet us. it was truly magical, and I will Treasure those memories forever.
If you re horned to have a hummingbird's trust, then you will have a lifelong little friend!
respect is everything.
#3 Puddle Jumping!
Puddle Jumping is exactly what it sounds like! Innocent, light felt fun for everyone! (And a little messy too. But for those who don't mind it to have a bit of fun, then this is for you!
Have a rainy day? or what I like to call them, "Eeyore Days" and don't know what to do?
Well, give the rain a moment to fill those nice puddles up, and just when you deem them to be good, muddy puddles, it's time for the best part. Jump!
I suggest to dress in something that you don't mind a little mud on them and go for it!
It's even MORE FUN if it's still raining.
Dance, sing, whatever make ya happy, do it! (Hint: It's better with friends)
I'm one of those types that enjoys this once in a while, no matter the age, or hard the rain is coming down.
In fact, I don't even own am umbrella, because I love the rain so much!
#4 A Night Out at the Opera or Vintage Theater
Have you enjoyed a night out on the town lately? Perhaps. But, have you made it a vintage one? No? Allow me to shed a little light on this subject.
There's just something wonderful when taking a step back through time. And anytime is lovely, don't get me wrong, but my favorite is the Film Noir time. Between the
1920's-1940s. The time of old Hollywood, and fem fatals!
Deck yourself out with a stunning attire, do up your hair for the time period and throw on, or make your own set of jewelry to fit the occasion.
There is a VERY vintage theater that's in my state, that every time I walk in it's like my own time machine. And they even play vintage movies there too. So you get the whole experience!
If you don't have a Theater such as this one, then an Opera house would be perfect!
Or even going to a Ballet would be marvelous as well!
Reall any place that's good for you to go and brings everything you love of the old times.
(Bouns points if you can find a hidden speak easy bar type place! P.s. if you do, I would love to hear it!)
Make sure to call in advance, because some places have specials playing and sales.
#5 Berry Delicious Berry Picking
With more than 400 types of berry fruits out there, you only want to pick the ones that are safe to consume! Yet there is still quite a few that are edible, to choose from.
Berry Picking is an amazing experience, and it's something that the whole family can enjoy together.
To name a few, if you're not so sure which kind berry sounds good, there's Raspberry, Blueberry, Blackberry, and my personal favorite being Strawberry!
If you prefer a more personal touch, instead of going to an orchard, then you can certainly grow your own berries at home.
And in my own personal experience, this is special as it is convenient to have right outside your door.
Pro tip: Take rocks that are the closest shape of your berry and paint it to look like the berry, let dry and then place in your garden. This will fool the birds and other animals and they will think it's bad and won't eat them. You could also take those little sachet fabric bags and carefully place around them, to keep the slugs and ants and such off.
So, there is no need for spraying bad stuff around, so it helps keep you and the other critters all safe.
I personally don't use pesticides or the other stuff. I prefer to keep it all natural and plenty to share with the nature babies.
And those are my top 5 fun ideas for this Summer!
I really hope you all get a delight from this post and perhaps some new plans.
Yet, in the beginning of this post I promised I would give a few bonus "Un conventual" ideas of fun. So, here are 2 more sweet and short ideas of just that!
#1 Sock Mopping
This one I learned in Florida from my aunt. And I never knew mopping a floor could be so fun!
All you have to do is put a little music on, socks on your feet and splash water on the floor you want to clean and slide around!
Sock Mopping is a lot more fun than you may think AND you also get a super clean floor.
Win, win!
#2 Go or Attend a Craft Fair
A Craft Fair is a wonderful way to find unique gifts for not only for your loved ones, but for yourself too!
And usually most of the craft fair places I've attended, has used the money from the vendors booths to help with a charity, animals, others or a function.
So, it can be both fun and beneficial to everyone involved!
Not to mention, it's another great way to earn some extra cash if you want to be a vendor.
You can find baked goods, handmade items, fashion/jewelry finds and much more!
That's the beauty of a craft show, they are as unique as it gets.
I sincerely hope all you lovelies have the most beautiful, sunny summer day!
And I don't know about you, but I plan on trying most, if not all of these fun filled ideas.
As always, until next time. Xx -A
Life Lately: I'm not going to lie; this last month was a biggie!
As a small recap, since I've been busy with would include: I turned 25, and I started my very own business called "Jades."
I even have a craft fair my mom and I are getting ready for in a couple weeks!
These three things have certainly made it a little difficult to do other things that I usually enjoy doing. But that doesn't mean they weren't any fun. Because I immensely enjoyed every single second of it all!
It's important to remember; that life can get a lil crazy sometimes. and that's ok.
As long as you don't take things too seriously, know how to laugh at yourself and live in the moment.
Because even the messy bits can be beautiful.
All my love. Xx.
This is such a fun way to spend your summer. I love these ideas here it looks like a good way to beat the heat as well.
